TREND COLORS FALL / WINTER 24/25
EPISODE 2
THE BLUE REALM

Welcome to our next episode – THE BLUE REALM – where we will move exclusively in the cool world of blue tones: lively, fresh, and also a bit frosty – fitting for the season. As we described in our previous newsletter, we’ll explain our color process and how this color world ties in with the current fashion for this winter.

COLOR WORLD BLUE – GREEN

The color forecasts for the upcoming fashion trends are often set one and a half to two years in advance. PANTONE is a leading and reliable trendsetter, but every year it also shows that the institute is not an oracle, just offering a seasonal opinion.

With over 35 years of experience in architecture, logo design, furniture, and interior design as well as in the eyewear industry, I find these predictions interesting, though often a bit boring and cautious.
This is exactly the moment where the famous ‘leap of faith’ comes in – perhaps better described here as courage to trust intuition – which inspires me as a designer to sense trends or, as often before, actively help shape them.

CERULEAN CLARITY
(our version of PANTONE WAVE RIDE)
One might assume that so many similar blue and turquoise tones are almost indistinguishable. But the fine nuances ensure that these colors, especially in combination, appear elegant and pleasantly subtle – never obtrusive or dominant. This color world is represented in the current limited collection VAGUES and will also find its place in the upcoming Spring collection 2025.

(our COMPLETE BLUE-GREEN PALETTE)
A year and a half ago, PANTONE initially set pastel tones for the Fall/Winter season. But just as designers read and sometimes ignore common color predictions, PANTONE is also ready to adjust its guidelines, and now, alongside the first projections, one can find adjusted – one could even say corrected – predictions.

2024/2025

The first two color swatches Starlight Blue and Winter Sky stand for the cool, icy tones originally proposed by PANTONE. In the meantime, however, PANTONE has also brought stronger shades into play, such as the radiant Wave Ride and the slightly green-tinged color Aventurine.

At BARCELUNETTES, our predictions also need to be well thought out, as each of our color combinations is made specifically for us – and that takes time. From the first draft to the final product, more than a year passes before we can present a perfected product:

Our trust in the development of our own interpretation of the trend colors for the Fall/Winter collections of 24/25 has paid off: Two major fashion houses have also presented their versions of the season, and it’s no coincidence that these are the same houses whose designs I admire and follow as a designer. Clear blue tones, from Cerulean to Cyan, dominate the collections from VALENTINO and BALENCIAGA.

Balenciaga, and also Stella McCartney and Gucci, focus on rather pastel tones in their women’s fashion. Aventurine and bright teal also play a role, but Cerulean and a fresh glacier turquoise form the basis for key parts of these collections.

Particularly noteworthy is the clear commitment to almost cyan-like blue, which Valentino and Fendi have chosen this season for men’s fashion. As already mentioned in the first episode (browns and greys combined with clear accent colors), these bright but unobtrusive blues radiate against an elegant backdrop of slate-grey nuances. Bold, without being intrusive, masculine without being blunt!

In the acetate collection VAGUES, the current color world of blue-green tones finds resonance, especially in the more masculine forms. The fine blue-green tones of the stormy sea, but also the radiant clarity of the Mediterranean sky, are expressed here.
